Association

The European Power Tool Association (EPTA) was formed in 1984 to represent the interests
of European power tool manufacturers.

The companies represented by EPTA – many of which are SMEs – represent:

  • ca. 15.000 employees in Europe, including Central and Eastern Europe,
  • ca. 70% of power tool sales in Europe (by value).

Power tools are used both by skilled tradesmen and consumers enjoying DIY (Do-It-Yourself).
The industry’s annual turnover in power tools is around €3.1bn (2010).
Cordless tools, which are powered by rechargeable batteries represent approximately a
market share of about 40% and is the fastest growing portion of the sector.

EPTA member companies have manufacturing, marketing, distribution and R&D facilities
throughout the enlarged European Union. EPTA members contribute directly to the
competitiveness of the European economy as well as to employment.
